Overlooking Birmingham in the Redmont historic district this 1920’s Tudor style home underwent a complete interior and exterior renovation. An old tax map photograph of the front of the home inspired GLA to undo years of unfortunate design additions and affirm that less can be more. In front, a motor court of retaining walls, stamped concrete paving, and overgrown shrubs were changed to a rolling lawn and small gravel court off the main drive. Terrace spaces original to the house were updated with new paving and proportions where a fountain garden was added with views to the city beyond. In back a clam shaped pool was removed and replaced with a 50’ long x 15’ wide rectangular pool. The paving throughout all the exterior spaces are beautifully detailed brick and limestone combinations.
