Details:

The life of a house and its gardens allow for several designers to leave their mark on them over time. This house in Mountain Brook, Alabama designed by Henry Sprott Long Architects in 1986, has seen the grounds transformed by some of Birmingham’s top designers such as George Gambrill and Mary Zahl.

Using them as guides, GLA re-designed a walled in terrace off the back of the house to meet the current needs of the client. The existing walls created the perfect backdrop for a new fountain to be viewed from the house. A Tudor Rose of limestone was commissioned for the fountain head.  A paved rug of bluestone with limestone detailing are complimented by a color pallet of green, blue, and white in plants and furniture creating a peaceful retreat from the day’s chaos. The garden furnishings and accessories were selected by the client.
